This has been a heck of a week so far.  What I didn’t fix, I tore up.  As I planned, I went to the 911 meeting last Wednesday.  I spent an hour listening to ifs, maybes, mights, could bes, etc on the new 911 center.  I am having some real problems          understanding why they want the center located on the north 40 of the back of mountain.  I guess I should correct myself, that is really Pine Ridge Estates, the elite housing complex at Pineville to be completed sometime.  If you aren’t familiar with that location, maybe you remember the old hog farm on H Highway which is approximately two miles in the wrong direction to be centrally located.  I am told that the property is worth $50,000.00 to $60,000.00 per acre and the 911 entity is being given approximately 2.5 acre by the owner/developer.  At this time there is no sewer in place, we will have to put in a septic system.  There will be a sewer system sooner or later, but we may still have to pump sewage uphill if the lines aren’t laid deep enough.  I am sending a request for a copy of the land description so I can see actual elevations relating to the area.  The road to the area is gravel, not blacktop.  The board seemed to agree that is all the new center needs.  Why the board is so set on this location is a mystery to me other than the property is being donated.  Listening to the meeting made me wonder if it might not be cheaper to purchase land elsewhere in the county.  My opinion is that just like the radio system; the center will cost an awful lot of money and have a lot of waste without giving us what we expect.  They may say that the radio system is up and running great; but if you listen to it, you may not agree.  Why not ask the sheriff his opinion.

The rest of the meeting went about as usual.  They agreed to spend money to update computers which was probably overdue.  Linda reported that the local auditors had completed their audit with only one minor error on her part.  Good going.  The state audit has not been completed yet.
